…Eye’s Owerri Zone Senate Seat
A globally renown and respected public health expert, Dr Chijioke Kaduru, has disclosed that the building of a state of the art primary healthcare centre for his community, Obiangwu Autonomous Community, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State, by him was in furtherance of his abiding vision and passion to make quality and affordable healthcare accessible to the public.
He stressed that it was in a bid to leverage this vision and passion to touch more local communities in the nine local government areas of Owerri Zone, that he decided to seek the mandate of the people of the zone, to represent them in the Senate from 2027.
Dr Kaduru, an indigene of Umuuwaoma, Obiangwu, and a globally respected authority in public health with over seventeen years experience, spoke in his country home, when he interacted with journalists, from Ngor okpala LGA.
According to him,his keen interest in making quality, accessible and sustainable healthcare services available to the general public, was a product of his strong belief that when people are given good health, they have been provided strong platform to become economically productive.
Dr Kaduru pointed out that it was in pursuit of this objective that he has spent the last ten years building a reputatable international public health organization, which is presently working actively in eleven African countries, contributing to the creation of access to quality public healthcare services to the citizens.
He stressed that his organization towards achieving its goals and visions, has continued to partner reputable national and international healthcare delivery bodies and organizations, like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF and World Health Organization, WHO.
Dr Kaduru pointed out that as a committed Nigerian patriot, he has also consistently supported public health sector reforms in the country, and Imo State through attraction of funds, and other vital resources.
He highlighted other areas of interest to him to include, education, job creation, and security pointing out that the recent massive economic empowerment carried out by his foundation, Nkwa Chikwere Foundation, aligns with his job creation and empowerment of people and local economies.
He revealed that he also has deep interest in the concept of free trade zone, pointing out that attracting one to the zone will significantly transform its economic and development landscape, adding that he is already putting up a roadmap in that direction, including working towards opening doors of collaborations and partnerships with relevant agencies, and the executive,as a preliminary step towards achieving that ambition.
Giving reasons for his decision to seek public office despite his enduring footprints and achievements in the private sector, the youthful aspirant opined that no matter how public spirited one is, private resources can never be enough for him to serve the public the way he would wish to serve them.
According to him, public sector remains the surest and quickest route to doing the greatest good to the greatest number of people, including in Owerri Zone, pointing out that this obvious reality was what made him after careful analysis and consideration, to come out to seek the support and mandate of Owerri Zone people represent them in the Nigeria Senate.
He gave strong assurance that if given the trust and mandate of the zone, he will utilise all his national and global contacts, connections, as well as rich experience in the public health to rewrite the history of senatorial representation in the zone.
